Davison House Residence Hall
Ashley Mechanical, Inc. worked alongside Kirchhoff-Consigli Construction Management during the renovations at Davison house.
We were responsible for $3.1 Million dollars of plumbing and HVAC installation. The refurbished Davison House offers state-of-the
art facilities while still remaining faithful to the building's historic architectural traits.
The goal of the dorm’s renovation and refurbishment was to preserve the original character of the dorm while modernizing the interior—striking
the balance between old and new. The renovations included a reconfiguration of all floors to accommodate living spaces for 190 students and with
a dedicated study area provided on each floor. In addition, the fifth floor was renovated to feature slanted ceilings with skylight windows and
the basement which was previously an unused space, was updated to include common spaces and a large, fully equipped kitchen. The house’s historical
character was maintained by leaving exposed brick in the study spaces and stairwells and by replicating the original molding and large white bathroom tiles.
To achieve Vassar’s sustainability goals, the project included low-flow flush toilets and shower
heads to conserve water. In addition, the hallways have built-in waste kiosks installed with bins
for recycling and garbage, clearing the hallways of all clutter.
