Ashley Mechanical, Inc. is working alongside Kirchhoff-Consigli Construction Management during the construction of the $25 million dollar expansion. Ashley Mechanical, Inc. is responsible for $3 Million dollars of Plumbing and HVAC ductwork installation in the new Student Commons, which is nearly doubling in size. Architects Noelker and Hull, in collaboration with nationally renowned interior architect, Adam Tihany—famous for his design of luxury hotels and restaurants—designed the new Student Commons which also incorporates state-of-the art recreation facilities and a new dean’s wing.

The Brooklyn Brewery
Included in the expansion is a new seven-barrel microbrewery “The Brooklyn Brewery.” Designed to evoke an old warehouse, this teaching brewery is the most recent result of the CIA’s 25-year partnership with the Brooklyn-based brew masters. The brewery will serve not only as a classroom for Advanced Wine, Beverage and Hospitality students, but also sponsor continuing education programs and produce four signature beers for the CIA.

The Egg
The oval-shaped center of the expansion is referred to as “The Egg.” This area includes kitchens, a café, pastry shop, pop-up restaurant space and a marketplace for fresh provisions. Enthusiasm can already be seen in the egg themed posters tied on the outside of construction gates. Construction completion is scheduled for summer 2015.
